Lew Florence is a veteran member of the SCCA, having obtained his
first regional license in 1955. In 1968, Florence, a Volkswagen dealer,
qualified for the ARRC runoffs with his Porsche 906 by taking three
firsts in the National events held on the West coast. At the Riverside
ARRC that year he took second in B/SR with the car. Also in 1968, he
brought the Porsche fifth at the Kent USRRC race. In 1969 Florence
was going to campaign the Eagle-Chevrolet which Dr. Lou Sell had
brought home to the championship the previous year. However, at
Riverside the car was sold to the Autodynamics Corporation whose
driver, Sam Posey, took first place with it at the following Continental.
