This is Bill’s first full season(1970) in Continental Championship competition after a number of years in sedans. One of the stronger Canadian competitors this season (there are three in the top 10 points earners) he received backing from Castrol for his new Lotus 70... Started the season rather unobtrusively at Edmonton with a 12th place finish, then was 15th at Seattle...Found the right numbers to dial into his Lotus at Dallas and finished third in the extreme heat...Was sixth at Road America and fourth at Donnybrooke.. Mechanical problems like a broken clutch at St. Jovite and lack of oil pressure at Lime Rock sidelined him...
