CARL HAAS/JIM HALL -
STEED INDUSTRIES
At first glance Jim Hall and Carl Haas are unlikely bedfellows. Their stark
contrast in appearance and manner belie the close relationship and
understanding between them. But Hall the technician and Haas the
businessman compliment one another like few management
combinations in modem racing history. With the added advantage of
having Brian Redman in the driver’s seat of the Steed/RFI Lola it’s easy
to see why their car is in the Number One position going into this
weekend’s race(Monterey Grand Prix 1974).

The backing for the Haas/Hall Formula 5000 effort comes from two
primary sources, both deeply involved in automotive performance
research — Steed Industries and Goodyear.

Steed is a growing producer of additives and cleaning compounds for
automotive and heavy duty applications. Its product line includes
performance improvement products for automotive lubricants, fuels and
cooling systems as well as several new cleaning agents for shop and
personal use. Additional team sponsors include Research Fuels, Inc.,
Valvoline Oil and Jack Douglass Chevrolet.
