Mike Eyerly of Salem, Oregon, is moving into Formula 5000/A
competition after a two year reign as the absolute master of professional
Formula B racing. He won eight out of 13 record in 1970. In 1970,
Eyerly was the only Sports Car Club of America driver champion to
successfully defend his crown. For the 1971 L&M Grand Prix, 32 year
old Everly, who graduated from Willamette University in 1961 with a
degree in economics, started racing go-karts in 1959. He won the SCCA
National Championship in class E-production with a Porsche in 1968
before entering professional competition in 1969
