One of two black drivers in this year’s L&M Series(1972), Benny Scott
plans to make it big in the racing world. Currently in the progress of
obtaining his doctorate degree In psychology, Scott is the driver on the
Vanguard Racing Team, a new organization to help train black drivers,
mechanics, crew members and technicians for professional racing. He
hopes to gain enough experience this season in Continental action to
become the first black ever to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 next
season(1973). Scott currently leads the Southern Pacific Division
Formula A points standings.
